School is starting very soon and you find yourself struggling with your Math work.  Math. Whether you have fallen behind because you have mismanaged your time or your workload is too heavy, one thing is pretty clear: you need help with Math. Giving up is not an option. Try to catch up. It is not too late. Math is indeed a demanding subject, but it is a subject that can be learned. As long as you put in the necessary work, you will be just fine. Forget about past experiences and focus on your learning. Please continue reading to learn how to catch up on your Math studies if you have fallen behind. It is not complicated, as you will see.

Slay Your Summer Classes

To catch up fast with Mathematics, go to a Cambridge summer program. Educational institutions do not close their doors during the summertime, so they can tend to your needs. Summer schools in Cambridge, for instance, offer programs to students between the ages of 11 and 18. They offer youngsters the chance to learn from top academics and professionals. Not only do summer schools have practitioners with years of experience, but also they leverage innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and cloud computing. The point is that you should consider joining a Cambridge summer program. It will offer you the chance of a lifetime.

Take summer school classes if you want to get ahead or catch up.. Educators will teach you how to approach Mathematical problems and how to apply theories and formulas. Summer schools are not equal with some more academically rigorous than other. However, summer schools provide the optimum learning environment for you to further your education and instill confidence for your mathematical future.

Read A Chapter in A Day and Get A Passing Grade

The importance of reading in the Mathematics classroom cannot be overstated enough. It builds important knowledge. Undoubtedly, the theory needs to be combined with minds-on activities. Even if you do not like reading about abstract theory, you have to do it. It makes the subject more comprehensible and ensures your success. Once you start reading, you will see that Math is not that scary. Some good books explain the theory behind the equations and which cover more than what happens in the classroom.

Read one chapter a day, take notes, and, most importantly, do some exercises. Find a quiet place in the house where you can study. Hand-writing the most important formulas will definitely boost your memory. Use a pen and paper, as it will be easier to revisit your ideas and notes and frees you from digital distraction. s. By the time you have finished the chapter, the content you have read will be present in your mind. Make sure you read sections you find hardest very carefully and take regular breaks when you are done. Learning isn’t a one-time process, make sure to revisit your work again and again!

Do Not Waste Time on Details and Commit to The Fundamentals

The main reason why many students fall behind studying is that they do not have a good understanding of the fundamentals. They are not capable of handling complex equations because they do not even master the basics. Get started on mastering the fundamentals of Math. This is the best way to prepare for success. What you need right now is a comprehensive grounding in arithmetic. As you progress, you will develop your ability to think mathematically, learn about various concepts and relationships, not to mention apply the knowledge you have just gained.

Foundational Mathematics is an important building block – addition, subtraction, and multiplication – are one of the most important steps. You can continually practice this through daily mental arithmetic and even new maths apps on your smartphones! You will eventually master adding and multiplying large amounts of digits. Math fundamentals are easy and there is no reason to be scared. If you’re struggling we recommend purchasing some fundamental maths books to help guide you through the process – you’ll be there in no time! They will help you understand and solve your problems. It does not matter if you are in higher Math at school. It is imperative to brush up and consolidate on the basics.

Find A Study Buddy to Help You Stay on Track

If you want to stay on track with your goals, get a study partner right away. There is nothing better than studying with a buddy. You can grade each other before school starts and get to the bottom of unsolved problems. If you do not know the answer, you can lean on the knowledge of your study buddy. You may discover that studying with a fellow friend keeps you more engaged and learning Math for longer! It forces you to do the necessary work and meet deadlines. If you do not have a good understanding of calculus or you are not very good when it comes down to geometry, it helps you to lean on not only your teachers advice but a fellow student who understands the topic.

The best study partner is the one with whom you can work well with. You do not need someone that distracts you from your learning by talking about video games, playing on their phones or simply talking to you. However, if you can’t find a suitable buddy, it is recommended then to go to a library look online. Libraries are great places to meet like-minded students who are in a similar position to you – wanting to learn! Take advantage of this and socialise at appropriate times to meet people who can become your study buddy!

Research is an annoying part of academia regardless of which subject it is in, but researching mathematics is a difficult beast to manage because it’s hard to do. What do you look for? How do you research math in the first place? It’s just extremely difficult to do, especially when you’re young and don’t have the experience in the field you need to make it a little more bearable. But if you are interested in conducting honest math research, here’s the way to go about it.

Your Research Doesn’t Necessarily Have to Answer a Question

Original math research generally requires you to tackle a problem that no one has solved yet. However, if you are still in high school, you likely don’t even know all of the aspects of math you would need to make a breakthrough on these extremely difficult problems that even experienced mathematicians haven’t solved. But your math teacher usually knows this, and they hardly expect you to make the next huge math breakthrough in your research. You almost definitely won’t be penalized if your research doesn’t amount to a valid answer. Of course, it’s frustrating for all of your effort to come to naught, but it isn’t something that will affect your grade.

Along that same line, don’t be disappointed by the fact that you aren’t really making any progress on the problem you’re tackling. You’re a high school student; it would be ridiculous for you to solve some math problems that mathematicians haven’t solved yet after all the decades the problems have existed. The research isn’t trying to facilitate actual success, but learning through the research.

Know Who to Ask for Insight

Believe it or not, but math research isn’t very common. It isn’t a normal pastime for your average person. That being the case, it is very difficult to get good advice on it, in person or otherwise. Your best bet is to actually get aid from, well, math people. Math teachers, math professors, mathematicians, whoever; the best way to learn how to conduct math research is to ask people who have, in fact, conducted math research of their own. After all, no one is going to be able to explain the very difficult and technical process than they.

Of course, most of us don’t have a mathematician on speed dial, so other than your actual math teacher, you might not have anyone to turn to in person. It’s a bit harder to find the kind of information you need with a Google search, but the info is out there. This, for example, is an extremely detailed, thorough explanation of mathematical research and how to go about it. Finding such examples and lessons from experienced mathematicians is a great way for you, a high schooler, to get a firm grasp on how this complex and frustrating process works.

It’s Easier to Pick Open Questions

As a high schooler, it’s very difficult to try and answer a problem no one has solved before. It’s even more difficult to try and come up with a problem that no one has ever even asked before. That said, don’t try to. You don’t need to come up with some extremely elusive question that has never been asked by anyone in the history of math. That’s more trouble than you want, and it’s more than your teacher is expecting of you. You won’t have to do something like that to get a good grade.

It’s much easier to pick open questions; problems that have been asked before, even if no answer has been found. The benefit of this approach is that you don’t have to come up with a whole research topic from scratch. You won’t have to brainstorm for a brand new problem to solve, and there will already be some research for you to look into and base your own research off of. For a high schooler who absolutely does not have the math knowledge to be conducting their own original research into their own original problem, this is the safest bet for you in conducting a well-graded math research project.

A More Expensive, Less Troublesome Option

Despite how difficult math research is, it is, like most things, something you can pay someone else to write a research paper for you. Even something as frustrating and technical as math research can be bought from a willing individual online. There are many essay writing services online that tackle just about any problem, including math research of any length or difficulty. A legitimate essay writing site will conduct research and write a research paper even for mathematics.

Of course, this is definitely one of the subject types that costs a lot of money. Since math research is quite difficult, you’d have to pay an essay writing service a pretty penny for them to carry out all the hard work for you. But that said, if you have money to spare instead of time or motivation, it is probably a good deal.

Ultimately, math research is not easy, and it’s more about your application prowess and not your overall knowledge of mathematics, which is clearly not as complete as it needs to be to truly do real math research. Know where to set your sights and what is expected of you, and things will go much smoother.

Today the future is all about technology and STEM-centric schools enjoy more popularity than ever. They top prestige rankings and have their pick among the best applicants from across the United States and the entire world. That makes them highly selective, with MIT, for example, accepting only about 8% of their applicants. How can you impress the admission officers of a school that is as demanding as that?

I am not going to lie, it isn’t easy. Even if you get a perfect My Admission Essay review on your personal statement and your GPA is sky-high, no one can guarantee the acceptance letter will land into your mailbox. Often it’s up to a chance. Yet you do want to improve your chances, right? Here are the tips to do it.

Use your strongest side

I guess, that aiming for a stellar STEM college you must be a technical-oriented person. Otherwise, why would you want to be there in the first place? If your strongest side is left hemisphere, you may think that you are not that good at writing and other things that are considered “creative”. Not to worry! You can do it, only you will have to change your approach a little. Don’t try to be someone you are not. Be a confident STEM person and use STEM strategies for your writing:

  • Compare yourself to other potential applicants. What is the variable that makes you unique? Is that your unrivaled talent with numbers? Is that your great vision? Is that your passion and being driven?
  • Everyone has a creative side. It can be expressed in finding elegant solutions to problems and innovating. Show your unique way of expressing creativity.
  • Construct your essay as an engineer. Make a blueprint (aka the outline). Look at the proportions and ratios of the main parts and supporting paragraphs. Harmony can be verified with math, you know.
  • Make a list of things that must be in your essay and check them out one by one. Satisfying, right?

Make it about something important to you

You don’t have to write an essay exclusively about yourself, but you must write it in a way that will show who you are. Your unique voice is what admission officers want to hear. That is why the admission essay is nothing like the essays you used to write at school.

Did you hate to analyze someone else’s work and stock up on quotes to prove your point? Great, because you must NOT do this for your personal statement. It is called “personal” for a reason. It is much more like a short story than your average writing assignment. You write about places, experiences, feelings, people that are important in your life. It’s a narrative from your point of view and there is no “correct” stance on it. The objective is not to write what the admission officers want to read, but to make your story unique, personal, and more importantly – memorable.

Be clear about your goal

One of the reasons why colleges want an essay from you is to have an insight into why you apply. Your motivation is very important. That is why they ask about your favorite subjects or the ways you contributed to improving the life of your community. They want to see you already making the steps in the direction of your dream. Ideally, they want to see how their school can help you on your way to changing the world for the better. Simply wanting a degree and a nice job isn’t enough.

Ask yourself honestly, why this school? Is it because it’s prestigious and selective? Or is it because they have the best research lab facilities the country that will allow you to conduct the experiments you envisioned? Show you are a doer. Schools are quite okay with being for their students only a means to an end, as long as the end in question is laudable.

Polish up your writing

However honest and inspired your writing is, you must make sure it’s free from mistakes, typos, pleonasms, and other writing faux pas. One of the reasons why you are required to submit a piece of writing is, of course, to show off your writing skills.

Your sufficient grammar and spelling proficiency kind of can be deduced from your high GPA score, so this might not be a number one reason when you apply to a selective college. Still, it’s worth considering. If you are not sure that your writing is impeccable, use online editors or hire a proofreader to make sure that you had your best shot.

Mathematics. How charming this word is. For thousands of years, people study it, research, make investigations, put forward theories, and solve problems in such a brilliant way that other mathematicians believe that this is art. Unfortunately, for most people, math is just a subject at school, which they prefer to pass and forget. For those who are in love with math, there is another problem, how to enter the world of science and express yourself as a professional. Unluckily, the times of correspondence between scientists are gone. It is impossible to write the problem on the margins of the letter like Fermat did and became one of the most significant problems for a few centuries. Before you are able to have your own voice in science, you need to pass all steps, and writing research papers is among them.

There are 5 tips to make it easier, but anyway you should remember that the main part of every mathematics research is research itself but not a form.

  1. Make a timetable. People who are fond of math are almost addicted persons. They never forget to research, but always forget to give a form to this research. You should understand that research paper is not your huge amount of drafts, where you used a red marker to highlight the main thought and perfect solution. A research paper is a structured and logical text with rules. Therefore, the schedule will help you with planning your time not to forget every step of writing.
  2. Try to use as more modern resources as possible. There is a proverb, says that great minds think alike. There are many known facts that in different countries at the same time scientists make the same discoveries. They worked separately and used different approaches to solving the problem, but the result was the same. Unlike us, they had an explanation. They didn’t have internet or emails. But we have all of this. Therefore, if you will present your titanic job, which you are proud of and someone will say that saw the same research in another scientific magazine, it will be a disaster. So, first, discover the current situation of the topic you choose.
  3. Use as much help as possible. Remember, that your mentor spent much more time studying mathematics. Maybe in some intermediate result, he will see more impressive next step. Don’t be afraid to talk about your research with your colleagues or college friends. It is possible that some of them are working with a similar problem, and together, you will have a synergistic effect. If you need immediate help with your assignment, and your professor is not available, you can always address a high-quality academic paper writing service which will write your research paper on time.
  4. Use Mathematics or the Wolfram Language for equations, figures, and forms. Your paper will have a more professional look than without using them. In MS Word there is inside instrument called MS Equation. You can also use it. Remember, that only specialist will read your paper, so you don’t need to make footnotes to explain known theorems or lemmas. To be sure that you didn’t skip some necessary explanation, give your paper to read to your mathematician friend.
  5. Use common structure instructions for research paper. There should be a title, an abstract, an introduction, a body, a conclusion and a list of sources. It works to every paper, but mathematician research paper has one big difference that sounds ‘Fewer words, more symbols.’

Try your best in writing! Use the tips above, and we believe that your paper will be stellar. But there is one more remark. If you are a scientist but not a writer, use the proofreading and spend this vacant time for more research because Mathematics is a Queen of Science and every new study is a step of development of our society.

When having an exam, you don’t want to mess up with the marks that come with PSLE ratio word problems. These marks are a chunk of the total marks for the exam, and it’s only safe to earn as much as you can.

Various methods are involved in solving PSLE math’s, and any one of those methods can be used by the math’s tutor to trick you. However, irrespective of how the questions might be twisted, there are 4 basic PSLE ratio that will be tested during an exam, and these are;

Example: John and Peter both have shares in a particular sum of money, in the ratio 5:6. After a couple of days, Peter spent $16, this caused the ratio to become 3:2. At the end, how much does Peter have?

  • The “Constant part”: This simply means that in a Mathematics question, one of the various parts didn’t change, while others did. This is a basic mathematical word problem with a simple approach to solving it. In solving this forms of math problem, all that needs to be done is to make the part that refused to change, equal to each other. If you see a question in the format below from your math tutor, this is the simple approach needed to solve it.

In solving this, you should know that the amount owned by John would remain the same in both cases, as he did not spend any amount of his share.

  • The “Constant Total”: This refers to a case in which the total of a word problem remained the same. Most times, this concept is used when dealing with ‘internal transfer’. Taking a look at this scenario: If X transfers some cash to Y, the amount of cash on X would reduce, while that of Y would get to increase, and by the same amount. However, the total amount of cash on both persons would remain the same, before and after the transfer.

Example: John and Peter both have shares in a particular sum of money, in the ratio 5:4. After a couple of days, John gave Peter about $20, this caused them to have the same amount of money. At the end, how much money does Peter have in the end?

In solving this, you should know that the total amount of money owned by the two persons would remain the same.

  • The “Constant difference”: This refers to the case in which the difference remained the same. In most cases and examinations, you would find out that this concept is used with respect to” Age”.

Irrespective of the number of years that goes by, the difference in the ages of two individuals will always remain the same. This is simply because both individuals grow older, together.

Example: John and Peter both have ages that are in the ratio 4:7. However, in 3 years’ time, they would be at ages with the ratio 3:5. What is the current age of Peter?

In solving this, you should put into consideration that the both John and Peter grow older, together. Hence, the difference in their ages would always remain the same.

  • The “Everything Changed”: This is just as the name implies, in questions like this, every variable is bound to change. The difference changed and so also did the total. None of the variables remained the same.

In most exams, questions that run on this principle would most likely carry the last 5 marks. This is a very important type of question, and you should ensure that you maximize it. However, there are a number of methods that can be used to solve these types of problems. The breakdown of a method goes thus,

Example: The ratio of John’s money to Peter’s was 2:1. Soon, John saved another $60, while Peter spent $150. This caused the ratio to change to 4:1. What was the amount of money John had in the first place?

In solving this, these steps are applicable:

  • Pen down the starting ratio, then effect the changes
  • Have a comparison between the final units and the final ratio
  • Have a cross multiplication of the final units and the final ratio
  • Finally, solve for just one unit.

These four concepts are the very basics and can be used in examining you, once you understand them, you are good to go. A

How Can You Write an Essay on Technical Research In 5 Steps?

Do you feel you are bogged down by your dissertation?  Never let it frighten you.  Continue reading for some dissertation writing tactics that will certainly turn your dissertation from a beast into something a lot more workable.

1.  Respect your essay

Before everything else, admit that writing your dissertation is a complicated and difficult project and treat it appropriately.  Your long term career will depend on you carrying out good work with it, and, most significantly, finishing it with the help of any dissertation writing service London.

To be able to give yourself the most beneficial chance of completing the dissertation, help it become your top priority of life for the time it takes to complete it.  Put as many other things in your life as you possibly can on hold, or at best try to limit your involvement in them till you have completed the dissertation.

2.  Manage yourself

On the flip side, take care of yourself.  Get frequent exercise and enough sleep. Your dissertation doesn’t get any better when it’s written by a person who is sick and tired or sleep-deprived.

3.  Do not forget that you’re the expert

Keep in mind that you’re the expert.  You’re the one who did the studies or the analysis that you’re going to write about in the dissertation. So, there’s no need to be consumed with stress.  Just make-believe you are going to explain everything to your friend or coworker in a very lengthy letter.

4.  Comprehend the basic framework of your dissertation

The majority of dissertations, complex or otherwise, adhere to a comparable structure if they’re according to first-hand analysis, which technical dissertations are typical:

In this particular part, you give a summary of your whole dissertation and its objective.

Theoretical information

In this particular part, you provide a summary of the main study on the subject matter of the dissertation and clarify the way the dissertation analysis relates to everyone else’s analysis.  This is the place to spell out everything you expect to find in the research, i.e., your speculation.

Your studies or some other exploration

In this particular part, you explain your research you did and the way you did it — in specific detail.

The results

At this point, you explain exactly what your outcome was, and provide tables and graphics as required.

What it all means

At this point, you explain the way your final results relate to the speculation as well as some other people’s analysis and focus on the implications of exactly what you found.

This is actually where you present a synopsis of the entire dissertation and make recommendations for further analysis if you have not already done so in your previous section.

5.  Write everything down

Once you know the fundamental framework of the dissertation, the precise writing of it will always be less daunting.  Given that you have done all your groundwork, which was truly the most difficult part, your job is now “simply” to write everything down.

Begin by explaining your research, i.e., by writing sections a, b, and c, in that order. Most of these should write on their own, and once you’ve done them, you will have the bulk of the dissertation written.

Find a subject matter that you like and worry about. Opt for a subject matter that you’ll be in a position to deal with, think about continuously, and even dream of for a couple of years. Once you complete your dissertation, you ought to be, for a short time at least, the world’s leading professional on your subject matter.

Creating Final Draft of an Essay

A specialist from Jon Hamilton says that writing an essay is one of the performance tasks that are required in some subjects of a college student. The goal of writing it is either to inform, persuade, entertain, or explain a subject or a theme. In order to make a perfect college essay, you need to take your time in creating your short composition. Drafting your essay is an essential tool for you to ace it. It can be challenging but ending with a final draft is indeed rewarding. What is a final draft definition? According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, a final draft is a final version of something, usually after a lot of editing and rewriting. How to write a final draft? Here are some ways that can help you. If you don’t have a lot of time for that it’s better to find an essay for sale in a trusted company.

Figure Out the Main Idea

To write my essay, first, your final draft writing paper should be neat and clean. This can help you to vividly arrange your thoughts quickly. Point out then the main idea of the subject or the theme you are writing with. What is the point of the subject? What is being said about the person, the event, the idea, or the thing about the topic? These are the questions you need to ask yourself in order to figure the main idea. The rest of your essay then should have a clear connection to it. Do not redirect the reader to another message. Focus on it.

Invest on the Introduction

Start with a catchy, entertaining introduction. Your introduction needs to capture the reader. It doesn’t mean you need to choose words that are confusing and not easy to understand. Use words that you know the meaning of. Simple yet precise words are better than vague and confusing one. The introduction must then be direct, brief and satisfying. Avoid writing an awkward sentence construction. Your introduction is the key for your essay to be read until the end. You may invest time with this part of your essay.

Link Paragraphs with Each Other

After writing the introduction, you need to organize the body of your essay. Your paragraphs should be connected with each other. You can do this by writing the sentences in the same structure. Be diligent in checking the comma and punctuation. Be careful in putting them. Where you put them can change the meaning of the sentence and can affect the whole essay.

Your essay can be likened to a human body. The human body has different parts. Each part possessed different function, either big or small, but are united as a whole. Likewise, each paragraph in your essay should be united together. The paragraphs in your introduction, body, and conclusion should be linked with each other in order to convey the message you want to deliver. It can be achieved by keeping each paragraph focused on one thing- your main idea. Always remember that the rest of the paragraphs are just the supporting details of your main idea.

Draw an Effective Conclusion

The most challenging part of writing a final draft of an essay is to leave a lasting impression on the mind of the readers. But there are some ways that you can do this. You may ask a provocative question that can stir the mind of your readers. A famous quotation that is related to your paper, a warning, result, or a consequence as an ending will do too. A brief summary of the main points of your paper is also another option. Either of these ways, you can have an effective close to your essay.

Review for the Last Time

Lastly, review your draft from the start to the end. You can read it out loud or have someone read it for you. Why is this important? This is an efficient way to check for errors in grammar, punctuation, and even spellings. Before finalizing your draft, you may reflect on these questions: Have I thoroughly check whether I have a catchy intro of the sentence? Are my sentences and paragraphs related to each other? Did I offer enough details to support the main idea of the topic? Did I end my essay with an effective conclusion? If you have a positive response to these questions, then you have a good final draft of your essay.

There are so many reasons why students failed their requirement in writing an essay. Some find it hard to compose it. Others failed because of careless errors. But mostly, what is the common mistake? They are writing their essay without crafting a draft of it. Students should bear in mind that crafting a final draft is a task that can save them from failing. They should give this task to increase importance. Why so? For this could be their chance to improve their paper and correct any flaw. A final draft could become handy in time where you need to double check your papers before the due of it. Polishing your words, sentences, and paragraphs is a great help to ensure a masterpiece.

A complete piece will never be achieved in just one setting. Just like a beautiful song written through time and a poem scribbled in sheets of paper, an essay likewise needs revision in order to be developed well. Therefore, in order to create the final draft of your essay, it should be written in a clean sheet of paper.  You need to figure out the main idea of the topic. Connect the rest of paragraphs to the main idea. Check the grammars, punctuation, and spellings of each sentence. Then, draw an effective conclusion. Following these steps will surely give you your well-deserve grade in writing your essay.

How to Advise Students About A-Level Choices

At various points in their young lives, your students will have to make difficult decisions, most notably the choices surrounding A-levels. An exceptionally unenviable position, especially with the university application process’s ongoing deadlines and persistent pressures.

As they come to deal with this, they will face the frustrating paradox of the decision being impactful on a much larger swathe of their life, yet at the same time having so much less experience through which to frame the decision. This is where teachers come in, but are you really that much better equipped? You have subject knowledge, and a plentiful understanding of pedagogy, and your own life experience of course. But even with all that, there is only going to be so much that you can realistically offer, especially in the vastly changing world we find ourselves living in.

Instead, maybe you need to change angles. Advising a student on which courses they should take could well be a lost cause, but this could be a ‘give a man a fish vs teach a man to fish’ scenario. Maybe instead of trying to choose the A-level subjects for a student, you should help them in the choosing process itself. The following six strategies give a broad swathe of the ways in which you might want to choose something as important and impactful as your A-Levels.

This is the simplest and potentially most obvious way to make this kind of decision. What subjects do you do best in? What subjects are they most likely to get the very best possible grades in when in two years they come to take the A-Level exams? To get the best handle on whether this is a good idea, suggest your students go and talk to the apt teachers, or research past exam material. In some subjects the GCSE and A-Level syllabuses work very differently, so high performance in one might not correlate to the same results in the other. A clear understanding of the jump over can be very useful if performance is the key measure for the A-Level choice process.

Career Path

The question “what do you want to be when you get older” has doubtless haunted many students, especially as the prospect of leaving school approaches. But for those with clearer ideas about the answer, the research they need to do for their A-levels choices becomes much clearer. Services like Glass Door and the National Careers Service make it very clear and open the kinds of qualifications and academic backgrounds all sorts of roles require. If your student knows what they want to do, these kinds of services, along with some well-placed questions to some of the larger employers in the apt field, will be the best way to go forward.

If a student has a very particular higher education institution they want to get into, the course of action becomes clear. The student’s process of picking their A-level subjects becomes researching the course and the university in question, maybe inquiring after alumni, or reading up on industry press coverage of the institution in question. When it coms to elite universities, such as those belonging to the Russell Group or the Ivy League, assistance from specialist consultants could be very useful indeed.

There are certain subjects that come together and compliment one another, either with their study styles, their content, or just the form of the teaching approaches applied by the syllabuses. History, religious studies, philosophy and sociology may well connect with the way their essay questions involve presenting arguments and invite analysis. Physics and maths are natural partners due to the former’s heavy use of the latter, and while computer science and modern languages may not seem like a natural pairing, the reality is that syntax and linguistics are key elements of both. If a student wants to get the most out of their studies in a way that could see them overlapping into a collective skill set, thinking in this manner could prove very useful.

Equally however there are plenty of students who would very much like to take the opposing approach. If they are uncertain about a direction, or unclear on a career path, they may want to sample from a varied and even seemingly disparate selection of subjects. English Literature, tech studies, Mandarin, and chemistry could be a real chopping and changing drive when it comes to switching gears in a student’s brain, but maybe that is exactly the kind of thing they need to keep themselves going along the best way in their studies.

The long-standing optimistic brand of advice “do what you love” has become overused well beyond the point of cliché, and is now aggressively advancing on the territory of the axiom. Despite this, however, there is still some underlying truth going on here. A subject or field that a student enjoys is one they will work harder in, and one they can actually see themselves doing in the long term. With this kind of fuel, a student can go much further than they otherwise might. Such advice needs some light tempering with practicality, but at the end of the day, too much optimism is vastly preferable to too little.

As a teacher, your pastoral responsibilities and your educational duties will naturally sometimes blur. Nowhere does this happen more potently than in the case of subject choices and advice on the university application process. With care and apt concern, you can make a student’s anxiety in this situation that little bit more bearable.

The Best Countries to Become a Teacher

One of the biggest advantages with education as a career option is that it is extremely globally applicable. In every country of the world, at every level from primary to pre-higher, teachers are in some significant demand because every country needs better-educated citizens for a smarter workforce to fuel their hope of a better tomorrow. But when considering this question there is an enormous host of issues to think about, and exactly which of them should you be taking most seriously. If you are thinking about where to teach internationally, the following indexes may be rather helpful

The simplest and easiest way to consider this equation. Which countries pay their teachers the most to bring them the kind of students who could become their countries best hopes for the next generation. The answers unfortunately are not as simple as all that.

In terms of pure income, the best-paid teachers in the world are to be found in Luxembourg according to Business Insider. Measured in US dollars, the average starting salary for a teacher there is 79,130. But this is only part of the picture. When considering international teaching one also has to think about the cost of living, and just how far that kind of money will take you. This is why smarter teachers looking at moving to the UK would do well to steer clear of London, and instead think about the opportunities presented by Sheffield teaching vacancies. Since Luxembourg is ranked by as 5th in the world for cost of living, it is clear to see pay is only part of the picture.

In 2013 the Varkey Foundation penned the first Global Teacher Status Index. This was a serious attempt to compare countries around the world based on a vast and varied set of factors to try and properly understand where teachers could be expected to be treated the best by their students. The Varkey Foundation consider their approach unique stating on their website “There have been many international comparisons in education, but this the first time that the role of teacher status has been studied in-depth”

The results from a later edition of the report published in 2018 showed that when it came to factors such as the “history and values and mores of a particular culture” the countries where teachers got the most respect, both from their students, educational institutions in general, and from society at large, the best countries to be a teacher were Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and at the very top, China. The highest ranking English speaking countries were New Zealand at ninth, Singapore at tenth, Canada at eleventh, and the United Kingdom at thirteenth.

There of course may be a wide variety of countries that you want to live and work in as a teacher, but depending on a given countries politics, market, and general social conditions, the ease to immigrate as a teacher can vary.

Some of the easiest countries to get a visa to teach in include Ireland, where a working holiday programme can allow international visitors to live and work in the Emerald Isle for a year with relatively little documentation, New Zealand, where the small population and skills shortage has created a very streamlined immigration process, or Costa Rica where as long as you can prove your financial stability with the job in place, this little coastal central American country will be extremely welcoming of Spanish Speaking educators.

Teaching is the kind of profession that will always be in demand, but because of that, you can afford to be picky. Take care and pay attention to international rules, and you can make your education degree extremely lucrative.

Teaching math to college students: The tricks you will want to know

Mathematics is valuable for scientists, engineers, and, above and beyond all other consideration, teachers. Bering a good math teacher is not all about possessing strong skills and knowledge. You need to be able to command the attention of a large group of youngsters. The point is that it does not necessarily matter how well you know the subject. If you are teaching mathematics at the college level, it is an entirely different situation. Students need to be instructed in specialized subject math, such as algebra, calculus, and geometry. College teaching is a little bit difficult. Professors teach skills, behaviours, and thinking. Given that thousands of students will come campuses and they cannot wait to get to math. The aim of the educator is to make students comprehend the material, use the skills, and remember the concepts in the future. Even if you have prior teaching experience, you will want to use the following tricks.

Be approachable

What does it actually mean to be approachable? It signifies being friendly and easy to talk to. Being approachable is essential when it comes down to building connections with your students and gain trust. If you make yourself more approachable, students will react in a positive manner. They will understand that you are there to help them and their problems will be solved. Encourage learners to establish a connection with you by being open. This way, they will feel more engaged with their work and will come to you for help when the situation requires it. If students feel comfortable coming to you, you have a better chance of influencing them. Smile more often and be willing to engage in conversation, even if the subject is not particularly appealing. In your attempt to be friendly and easy to talk to, it is paramount to remain professional. You have to make it clear to the scholars that you care, but you are not going to tolerate those who do not work hard or try to do well on graded papers.

Demonstrate the application

Fundamentals in mathematics are necessary for just about any career choice. For instance, chemical engineers have to have a good understanding of math. Almost 100% of problems can be solved using first-order differential equations. Surprisingly, students do not have a hard time understanding mathematics. It is chemistry that poses some of the greatest difficulties. An increasing number of students require chemistry help from an online tutor. Basically, they want to make sure that they achieve academic excellence. Getting back on topic, if you want to grab the attention of the class, teach math with real-world applications. It is not possible to demonstrate every single concept, yet, when it is within the bounds of possibility, you should do it. It is not enough to explain concepts. You have to prove them. An application greatly enhances comprehension. Set some time aside for math that is used outside of the classroom.

Provide opportunities for verbalization

Math teachers use explicit instruction in order to teach cognitive and metacognitive strategies. It is very easy to control mathematics when you verbalize concepts. The problem with students is that they practice and practice mathematical operations, but they do not get the chance to talk about mathematical concepts. In the absence of conceptual understanding, the content is not recognized during examinations. This is why it is so important to give students the opportunity to verbalize their processes and practice writing down solutions. You want your students to be successful. What is more, you do not want to encounter failure at mathematics exams. Learners need to be able to develop conscious conceptualizations after collecting multiple sets of data. Studies have drawn attention to the fact that students learn better when the questions come back to them. They are able to say the facts, comprehend the underlying concepts, and transfer the problem. It is unreasonable to expect students to memorize notions by heart. They are not machines. Verbalization is what helps place the content, as well as the concept in the mind of the student. Have them communicate their reasoning more often.

Reward the hard work

Talent is required as far as Math is concerned. However, practice makes individuals good at this exact science. Students that score the most on tests are the ones that work hard at it. The point is that experts are not born, they are made. Hard work can really make a difference. The good news is that students take pleasure in working hard. Some like to test their boundaries, while others are simply conscientious. You will be able to see undergraduates working really hard. Not only do they work hard, but also they study hard. Students somehow manage to divide their time between the library and part-time work, which is more than an educator can hope for. It is very important to reward the students that work hard. Tell them that you appreciate the fact that they attend office hours and study sessions. Take into consideration rewards. Rewards can come in the form of extra credit and free homework passes.

Encourage teamwork and reflection

There are always opportunities for improving your math teaching skills. Do you know who can help you become a better professor? Your colleagues. Try spending more time with your peers. You will be able to get new perspectives and ideas concerning college teaching. With time, your teaching will improve. Collaboration offers the necessary support to try new ideas and interesting activities. It is essential to be a team player. Think about your students’ wellbeing. They need more than one teacher. Be the best team player that you can be. Every teacher needs to be a team player in institutions of higher education. Being able to work with others is a key skill. If you have not developed it yet, there is no time to lose. Look for guidance, write down your questions, and socialize when you have the chance. You have nothing to lose.

How To Pursue The Perfect Career As A Teacher

Teaching can be one of the most rewarding careers there is. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of teaching a child a concept and watching it light up their face, their brain working overtime to process the new and exciting thing they’ve just been taught. Of course, there are troughs to go with the peaks, but for the most part, you won’t regret deciding to become a teacher.

That said, it’s not always easy to know where to start on this path. Obviously, one does not “become a teacher” overnight; there are plenty of steps along the way. Making sure you take the path that will lead to the best career for you isn’t a cakewalk. Here are some of our tips on how to pursue the perfect career as a teacher.

Decide whether it’s for you

Just because you want to be a teacher doesn’t mean you should be one. Some teachers struggle immensely with the workload, the occasional sense that they’re not being appreciated as they should be, and the long, unpaid overtime hours that can occasionally come with being a teacher. Before you embark on your teaching journey, you should make 100% sure that this is the career path for you. You’ll need patience, a dedication to hard work, and a desire not to see things done by half measures. Teachers don’t create the next Marie Curie by not caring, either, so you’ll need to love what you do.

Make sure you’re well-funded

Teaching can be fairly lucrative, but depending on where you live there are likely to be courses to take, qualifications to obtain and other things you’ll need before you can work in a school. As such, it makes sense to have some serious funding behind you before you embark on this journey – those courses won’t pay for themselves, and although some institutions will pay for your course, this isn’t the case everywhere. Drawing from savings, asking friends and family to subsidise you and chasing personal loans are all excellent ways to fund your initial foray into teaching. Websites like offer great methods and incentives for taking out personal loans, so pick the most appropriate funding method for you before you start.

Get a degree (or equivalent)

No matter where you are in the world, a bachelor’s degree is absolutely indispensable to becoming a teacher. In the UK, for example, you’ll need to have a degree to teach anywhere, while in the USA public school teachers are also required to possess a bachelor’s degree. With that in mind, if you don’t already have a degree, this is a necessary step to complete if you want to be a teacher. Your subject doesn’t necessarily have to be related to what you want to teach, but it definitely helps. There are some school systems which do mandate certain subjects, so for safe bets, aim for either English (for English teachers) or the STEM fields.

Find out what teaching courses there are in your area

Before you can teach, you’ll need the relevant qualification as well as the bachelor’s degree we’ve mentioned. You won’t be able to teach in schools in the UK, for example, without gaining QTS (qualified teacher status). In the US, the requirements vary state by state, but generally, some sort of equivalent is required. You categorically won’t be able to work in the vast majority of publicly-owned schools if you don’t have this teaching qualification, and many privately-owned schools are even more exacting with their standards. Don’t fall foul of not having the correct qualification. Make sure you’re prepared before you decide to look for teaching jobs.

Once you’re qualified, do your research

It’s not worth working in a school that has an atrocious reputation both for its students and for its teachers. Before you set out on your career, try to make sure you’re working for a school that values its staff. In many countries, class sizes are increasing, so teaching is often a stressful and highly demanding proposition. The last thing you want is for the support network of fellow teachers and other staff not to be there to catch you if you’re struggling. Similarly, if a school has a reputation for antisocial behaviour, make sure you know that before you start working there. You may well be the kind of person who can cope with abuse, but if you’re of a nervous disposition then you might want to try somewhere with a more positive reputation. Troubled schools definitely need teachers too, and if that’s you, excellent. If not, know thyself to avoid potential pain further down the road.

Enjoy yourself

First and foremost, you should love what you do as a teacher. If you don’t love it, then your lack of enthusiasm and passion will be reflected in your students. They need you to guide them through the material and show them why they should love it, so make sure you love it too. There will, of course, be moments when you just can’t muster the enthusiasm to love your job. Just make sure you’re grinning through those moments and that they don’t make up the majority of your work.

Three Outdoor Maths Ideas

Taking maths outside helps break up the monotony of everyday pen and paper exercises. It’s always appreciated when you lead children into the school playground and turning maths skills into something necessary for a competition, an interesting way to observe the world, or just something a little more fun than usual. Enclosed here are three ideas for inventive outdoor maths activities, and what they teach.

The Maths Map challenge – Depending upon how much play equipment you have in your school’s playground, the amount of imagination needed for this task will vary greatly.

Outdoor chess stones

Arrange your children into teams of three or four. Each team will need a metre rule and a large protractor. Give them each a set of mathematical clues to determine how far in a certain direction they will need to walk to reach the next step of the puzzle. Once there, they can find another clue, which will give them another maths puzzle to give another step. Clues might include things like “You need to walk the same number of metres towards the lunch hall as half all the chairs in classroom B12” or “Walk forward 5×3 steps at an angle three times the number of swings to your left”.

Integrating climbing frames, monkey bars, and other such items into the network of clues can be great further immersion builders. Maybe the children are a team of survivors in an escape pod, looking for the main body of the wreckage of their crashed spaceship. Maybe they are on a quest through a jungle, searching for a hidden temple. Maybe they are pirates who have to decipher the treasure map. The possibilities are endless!

Car Counting 2.0 – This is a classic of so many school days, but as children get older and more sophisticated in their understanding of maths in general, and statistics in particular, perhaps it is time to introduce more complex angles.

Most of the time car counting involves just one metric. Colour, make, model, the first letter of the number plate etc. How about instead we up the game, and introduce a wider field of variables. Break your class into teams of four to five, and have them try and spot different crossover trends. See if there is a confluence of red cars with number-plates starting with R at particular times. Are there more Fords around after lunch or before?

This has a number of valuable lessons. Not only does it teach children to think laterally about connections, but it also shows them how patterns can emerge in the mind, even when none are truly present. Even more skills and challenges can be presented once you get children back into class and have them represent the data they gather in new and exciting ways.

Outdoor maths

Dara A lateral thinking and strategy game that can be played outside, but works well indoors too. Children can either play against each other as individuals or in teams.

  • Have the children draw a grid on the ground in check of 5 squares by 6 squares
  • For each board has the opposing players/teams each find 12 objects of a specific kind. Pebbles, pine cones, bark fragments. Something distinctive and unlikely to blow away.
  • The children then take turns to place one piece on the board. They cannot put them so any three of their own pieces are in either a vertical or horizontal row
  • Once all the pieces are placed, the players then take turns moving their own pieces. They may move any one piece to a square either vertically or horizontally adjacent (NOT DIAGONAL!). The goal is to move three or more of their own pieces into a line. When they do, they may remove one of the opponent’s pieces.
  • The game ends when one team can no longer move any of their pieces into a row of three. When this happens, the other team wins.

A classic game from Africa, which encourages strategic thinking, forcing children to view a puzzle from every possible angle. While this may not immediately seem maths related, the kind of thinking needed to win a game of Dara is exactly the processes you need to develop skills in algebra, calculus, and other more complex forms of maths later in the curriculum.
