Top Tips for Parents and Pupils on How to Prepare for Exams Tests or Assessments >> Good Advice!!

It is testing season and many parents and children are overwhelmed with the whole process. Studying is only a part of getting good results on your exam. No matter how hard you study as a student if you don’t know how to go about taking a test, whether multiple choice or essay, you won’t score the highest possible mark. It’s natural to feel some stress about taking tests. In fact, sometimes a little adrenaline (a hormone made by your body during times of excitement or stress) is a good thing to jump-start you.There are several testing tips to help students and parents get through.

 Tips for students:

  1. Study in 30 minutes with 10 minute breaks

  2. Make sure you use the bathroom before the exam starts for less distractions

  3. Bring a watch to keep track of time if it is a timed test

  4. read directions carefully- This will help you avoid careless mistakes.

  5. Before you begin the test scan the questions so you know what you are looking for.

  6. Read each of the questions completely and don’t make assumptions about what they say

  7. Answer the easy questions first and then attempt the harder questions.

  8. Pace yourself, don’t rush . Read the entire question and pay attention to the details.

  9. Ask the instructor for clarification if you don’t understand what they are asking for on the test.

  10. Write legibly so it can be graded correctly

  11. Don’t forget to double check your answers

  12. Review all of yours answers and make sure your name is on your paper.

Tips for Parents:

  1. A good night’s sleep is highly suggested.

  2. Make sure your student has a good breakfast the morning of the test

  3. Remind your student to keep a positive attitude throughout the test

  4. Check to make sure they have all the supplies they need ie pencil, calculator scratch paper etc.

  5. No matter what happens be supportive of your student no matter what happens on test

You may also want to look way at studying smarter and not harder as many people have had a great deal of success with this with their students.
