How Do Mathematicians cut their Birthday Cakes? Amazing!

How to cut a cake into four equal pieces!

This concept makes a great Maths starter or plenary to a Maths lesson on the area of circles. It could be even used as an extension task to stretch and challenge learners and develop high level thinking.

Next time I use this in a Maths lesson I have it planned to bring in some mini cakes and get learners to actually do this and show that the cake can be shared into four equals parts. This does not really promote healthy eating but everyone loves a bit of cake in Maths lessons!
